Learn to code, solve problems and understand how technology really works.
A-Level Computer Science goes beyond using technology to understanding how it works. You’ll learn to program, design efficient algorithms and explore how computers, networks and data systems are built.
You’ll also complete a substantial programming project of your own, a great way to show universities and employers what you can do.
Before you start Year 12, you’ll complete a short Computer Science bridging project over the summer to get a head start, alongside our Sixth Form expectations and dress code.
Writing, testing and debugging code using structured techniques.
Designing efficient solutions with stacks, queues, trees and graphs.
Processors, memory, operating systems and how software runs on hardware.
How data moves across networks and is stored and queried.
What computers can and can’t do, and how we measure efficiency.
The legal, social and ethical effects of computing.
Course content and assessment can vary by exam board and year. Contact the Sixth Form team for the current specification.
